A lightly toned tetradrachm from Ainos with a noble head of Hermes

THRACE. Ainos. Circa 453/2-451/0 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 16.47 g, 7 h), Antiadas, magistrate. Head of Hermes to right, wearing close-fitting petasos with pelleted rim and inscribed AINI. Rev. ANT-[I]A-ΔAΣ Goat standing right within linear square surrounded by inscription; to right, Pan standing right on base, holding lagobolon in his right hand and raising his left in salute; all within incuse square. AMNG II, 1, 279 and pl. IV, 11 (same obverse die). May, Ainos, Group XVI, 67 (A56/P70). Lightly toned and with a firm and noble head of Hermes. The usual minor die breaks on the obverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
